Information about the CVV2 Number ( security code ).

For added security when doing business by mail order, over the telephone or internet; meaning whenever the credit card is not physically available to the merchant; an extra security number has been added to the back of credit cards. (The name on Visa cards is CVV2 and on Mastercards is CVC2). It is the last 3 digits in the signature field of the card. This number is only printed on the card and not as information in the magnetic strip.

(On American Express cards the number can be found on the front on the right hand side and has four digits.)
